Attendance
Attendance Statement
At Wavertree CE School, we believe that regular attendance and punctuality are vital for every child’s academic progress, emotional wellbeing, and social development. Every school day counts, and being in school every day on time ensures that children do not miss out on vital learning opportunities, valuable classroom discussions, and the joy of sharing experiences with their peers.
Our Commitment to Attendance
-
Working in Partnership: We view attendance as a shared responsibility between home and school. We work closely and supportively with families to remove any barriers to attendance, offering early guidance and pastoral care when challenges arise.
-
A Welcoming and Supportive Environment: We strive to make our school a place where every child feels happy, safe, and eager to come each morning. We understand that some children may face unique barriers—including medical or additional needs—and we work collaboratively with parents to put tailored, flexible support plans in place.
-
Celebrating Success: We recognise and celebrate good attendance and improved milestones, encouraging children to take pride in their consistency and commitment to their learning journey.
Why Attendance Matters
-
Continuous Progress: Learning is a cumulative journey; regular attendance ensures that foundational concepts are securely understood before moving forward.
-
Strong Relationships: Consistency helps children build strong, trusting friendships and feel a deep sense of belonging within our school community.
-
Lifelong Habits: Good attendance habits established in primary school lay the groundwork for future success in secondary education and beyond.
"Every day is a new opportunity to learn, grow, and shine—and every child is missed when they are not here."
