Geography
Geography Curriculum
At our school, we love bringing geography to life! We help children explore the wonders of our world so they can think, talk, and investigate like real geographers.
Our geography curriculum is designed to help children build their understanding step-by-step. We focus on key geographical facts—such as locational knowledge, different places, and human and physical environments—while also teaching them essential practical skills like map-reading and fieldwork. To help children make sense of the world, big recurring themes like space, climate, sustainability, settlements, and connections are woven carefully throughout their learning.
Because children need strong foundations and key vocabulary before they can start spotting patterns or explaining how the world works, we carefully sequence our lessons and regularly review past learning. We use maps, hands-on fieldwork, discussion tools like "Talk Tactics," and carefully chosen educational technology to help children connect the dots and grow their geographical understanding.

Learning Outdoors and Special Partnerships
We are exceptionally fortunate to bring geography off the page and into the real world right on our doorstep:
-
School Pond and Forest School: Our school pond and dedicated Forest School area provide wonderful, hands-on outdoor spaces where children can conduct real-world geographical and environmental fieldwork, observe habitats, and explore nature up close.
-
Expert Partnerships: We are proud to work in close partnership with the LJMU Natural Curriculum Hub and the Education Nature Park, giving our pupils exciting opportunities to engage in environmental projects and deepen their connection to the natural world.
Through engaging lessons, fieldwork, and outdoor adventures, we inspire our pupils to look outward, care for their planet, and grow into curious global citizens!
